The M973 operates on two commercial “AA” batteries or
a single military style BA 5567/U. The M973 was
modified to meet special submergibility requirements for
the U.S. Navy so that it can be stowed and transported in
underwater conditions down to 20 meters. This new
capability carries the designation AN/PVS-7C.
